美國第一個(gè)由NGK鈉硫電池技術(shù)實(shí)施的示范項(xiàng)目于2002年8月建成,當(dāng)時(shí)這個(gè)系統(tǒng)的原型被安裝在俄亥俄州Gahanna的一幢商業(yè)辦公樓里。美國電力公司作為主辦方,提供辦公地點(diǎn),并為該項(xiàng)目提供技術(shù)支持。這個(gè)系統(tǒng)不僅被用來減少對電力的需求峰值(削減峰值的操作),而且被用來緩和該示范地的電網(wǎng)功率失調(diào)問題。
